Principal's Message

Welcome to North Avondale Montessori School. Let me begin by saying at North Avondale Montessori School, “It’s all about the kids!” Our goal is to provide the best academic education possible, through rigorous and challenging course work, and to prepare students with a solid foundation to excel academically as they enter each grade level. We utilize the Montessori philosophy to educate our students, provide course work and experience in the arts, and after school activities to develop a well rounded child. Many of our students graduating from the sixth grade will attend Clark Montessori, Walnut Hills, and the School for the Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), the best high schools in the area.
In the Montessori Classroom, students learn through direct instruction, hands on learning activities, and self-exploration. Montessori materials are a part of the everyday instruction. These materials are specifically designed to stimulate a child's imagination and to develop reasoning skills. Every teacher at North Avondale Montessori School has Montessori certification and implements multiple learning activities on a daily basis.

Our Montessori classrooms are organized into the following age groups: 3 to 6 year olds (Pre-school to kindergarten), 6 to 9 year olds (1st, 2nd and 3rd grade) and 9 to 12 year olds (4th, 5th and 6th grades). Our faculty has Montessori training to support students through these developmental stages. Currently, over 80% of our faculty have a Master’s degree in Montessori education and are trained to support students through these developmental stages. We also have two National Board Certificated teachers serving on our staff.

We offer students a wide variety of experiences in the arts. Dance, piano, Suzuki Strings, cello, flute, Orff, visual art, vocal music and drama classes are provided after school. Orff is a method of studying and teaching music using pitched and unpitched instruments and incorporating body movement. Students learn to play the xylophone, recorder and drums. Classes are instructed by a professional artist at a minimal cost to the parent. Informational fliers are sent home to the parents or you may obtain a flier in the main office. We encourage every student to participate in activities after school.

I am very proud of our students achievement on last springs Ohio Achievement Assessment. Congratulations to our school community for the following gains:

  • Grade 3 Math 83%, Grade 3 Reading 83%
